camp mapDinkey Creek in the Sierras is a super popular spot for backpacking, wilderness day hikes, picnics, as well as family camping. Several large, developed campgrounds, picnic areas, plus numerous trailheads line the roadways of this forest.

The easy way to Dinkey: paved road access is from Shaver Lake @ Hwy 168, which just experienced a horrific wildfire in 2020: the CreekFire, however the fire did not reach the Dinkey area, as it traveled the opposite direction.

Or you can choose to take the long way up (on dirt road) up via Forest Route 11S12, from  the Lower Kings River – passing Black Rock Reservoir. This road closes for winter, so call ahead to rangers to find out if the gate is open.
